When in Rome

I looked like a confused tourist on foot with my map when Fabio (not kidding) pulled up next me. I weighed the pros and cons (sort of) and before I knew it I was whipping through the streets of Rome on a Vespa. When and a stranger asks if you’d like a tour of his city from his Vespa… you say yes! Literally a dream!

My Wellness posts promote living a longer life and while this story definitely exemplifies living life to the fullest… it’s probably not the best example of travel safety. However, this story also illustrates 5 benefits of travel listed below that help to elongate your life while also expanding your mind.

Benefits of Travel

  1. broaden horizons
  2. real life education
  3. create memories
  4. get to know yourself better
  5. FUN!

On this trip, my first to Europe, I visited beautiful Greece & my ancestor’s homeland Italy. Fueled solely by gelato, pizza, and Coke Light I trekked through two countries with an honest wonder. I visited the Parthenon in Athens, Greece in awe that the pictures in textbooks I saw in World History my Sophomore year of high school were real and I was actually there. I toured the Vatican and Sistine Chapel in more awe while watching as dedicated nuns walk the streets motivated by their cause. It was the experience that broadened my horizons, and left me with the unending desire to see more. Not just more of Greece & Italy, but the world. Some say travel is expensive, I say travel is priceless.
