Giving Machine 2019 | Las Vegas, Downtown Summerlin

It has been so much fun to see people in Las Vegas (and other cities) post about their visits to the Giving Machines. It is amazing to see the how the cause to #LightTheWorld has increased in recent years.

โ€œThese Giving Machines are an example of the big things that can happen when many people give just a little. That is what it means to Light the World one by oneโ€”when we each give what we can offer, our little light adds to a brightness of hope.โ€ -Bonnie H. Cordon

The machine in Downtown Summerlin is one of ten around the world. (Full list here) This is the third year for the Giving Machines, *which raised more than $2.3 million in 2018 for local and global charities. Total donations for this year are updated daily on www.LightTheWorld.org.

The idea of purchasing something specific at a set price helps puts your donation into perspective. I donated $34- my small donation allows 100 children to have the polio vaccine via UNICEF, and a take home lunch/dinner for a local child via ThreeSquare.

The two in the picture with me are missionaries assigned to the Giving Machines for the day. One elder is from Utah, the other the Dominican Republic. They aren’t wearing their usual suit and tie or name tags for the occasion. They are simply standing by the machines to offer help and information.

Of course you don’t have to visit the Giving Machines to give or donate to charities, but it’s so much fun to make it an event and invite your friends and family to join in and give together. Wishing you all the Merriest of Christmases, let’s continue to #LightTheWorld one by one!
