10 Wardrobe Staples

Style

I love the idea of going into my closet and knowing I’ve got all the right pieces to put an outfit together for any occasion. I hope this will give you some inspiration to create your wardrobe foundation!

#1 – Neutral Bag

With handbags I like to think “the more the merrier,” but if you are just building your wardrobe – start with a neutral, classic, & quality bag that can be worn with many outfits and also big enough to throw in a few extra necessities. Make sure your bag is functional for your needs. I am all about aesthetic, but only if it is the right fit for you!

#2 – Sunglasses

It’s helpful to select the proper frames for your face shape! Or, grab a friend and ask their opinion! As far as color, I like to have at least one classic pair and add fun styles/colors as a secondary pair or for outdoor workouts. Don’t be afraid to try a new frame or color, you might be surprised!

#3 – Black Pencil Skirt

I wear a black pencil skirt at least once/week. It is such a flattering look and so easy to pair with almost anything… button-up, blazer, short sleeve, sweater and works in most weather conditions. Add a pair of nude pumps and you’re instant chic!

#4 – Dark Jeans

I love jeans, especially a fabulously distressed pair, but it is important to have one pair of jeans without cuffs, fringe, or distress. A dark wash is super flattering with the right cut/design! High waist, low waist, skinny, bootcut, as long as you feel your best you can’t go wrong!

#5 – Black Pants

I like to find the same cut/style in black pants as my dark or favorite pair of jeans. I think black pants are just as versatile and classic as a black pencil skirt!

#6 – Little Black Dress

Dresses have a way of helping a gal look put together with minimal effort. Especially that “little black dress.” I might have more than a few hanging in my closet, but each one has a specific use and I am never opposed to adding more!

#7 – Watch

Do people still wear a watch? I’ve heard that question a lot, and you know what..yes, I wear a watch and it’s not an apple watch. Whether you wear an apple watch or a Rolex watch…it’s never out of style and a definite must for your wardrobe!

#8 – Basic White Tee

When I find one I love, I buy 2 (or 3). I am a jeans and t-shirt fan (thanks to my favorite F R I E N D Jen Aniston). Always comfy, always put together, always fab!

#9 – Jacket

Depending where you live… I’m in a warm weather climate so I typically go for lightweight jackets that can be used for easy layering. I steer clear of the cold…so if you’ve got some favorite heavier jackets, please share!

#10 – Nude Pump/Flat

Almost 75% of the shoes I own are nude… ok, not really… but I just love the sleekness of a nude shoe. You could even venture out and do an animal print shoe as a neutral if nude is too blah for you! Basically, nude can work well with almost any outfit.
